NORTHWESTERN HOCKEY ACADEMY Dedicated Programming for Forwards - Defensemen - Goalies The Northwestern Hockey Academy is an extension of the programming initiatives of Northwestern Hockey Outreach Camp. After trial programs in 2004 and 2005, the Northwestern Hockey Academy was successfully launched in 2006. The focus of this program is overall player development. Implementation of this hockey development program will complement each player’s hockey season with their regular minor hockey team. We do not intent to compete against other teams or leagues; our intent is to offer a positive opportunity for players to increase their skill development while still enjoying the time playing with their peers. Think of this as the equivalent to an “accelerated” academic class. Participants in the Northwestern Hockey Academy will receive dedicated programming on-ice that will take advantage of limited down-time, high tempo drills and innovative drill design. Our ultimate goal is to give each young player the opportunity to fully develop - to go to the next level. The Northwestern Hockey Academy runs October through February annually; all sessions are at the MTS Iceplex.
